Going to the
Health Center, or a doctor’s office, can be intimidating. The providers are well educated and from
listening to your symptoms and running a few tests, they can usually tell you
what is wrong with your body and what you need to do to get better. When the diagnosis is something unfamiliar to
you, it is important that you ask questions so you can have a better understanding
of your condition. As a patient, you
have the right to participate in decisions regarding your health care and
treatment so if you have questions about the tests that are being run or a
medication you are prescribed, ASK!
Here are a
few simple questions you can ask your provider each time you visit the office:
1. What is my main problem?
2. What do I need to do?
3. Why is it important for me to do this?
If you
understand the answers to these questions, you will be much better off in
understanding your condition and the treatment needed.
